South-Korean giant of consumer electronics and communications devices Samsung Electronics has announced the acquisition of Logan, Utah-based YESCO Electronics LLC.
With more than 2,000 installations in the U.S. and abroad, YESCO is among the leading manufacturers of large outdoor LED displays and LED signs.
This move is obviously beneficial for both companies. The main advantage for Samsung is incorporation of YESCO professional knowledge and servicing support. Being highly customized product, LED video displays require different marketing and selling strategies than LCD panels, where Samsung’s leadership is second-to-none. As opposed to “ready to ship” LCDs, LED video walls require pre-sales and post-sales services that Samsung currently lacks. YESCO’s expertise and long-term experience in the field enable Samsung to close the gap.

As for YESCO, the acquisition sets the company apart from the competition triggered by crowds of low-cost LED manufacturers from Shenzhen, China. Being a subsidiary of a blue-chip company enables YESCO to expand its list of professional advantages with the credibility of Samsung’s brand name. At ISE 2015, Samsung introduced its latest LED signage solution with an amazing 1.1 mm pixel pitch. The mass production is set to start in 2016. Most likely it will be based on YESCO’s technical capabilities using the company’s LED video product lines.
