Russian stadium stands out with a giant media screen

Massive LED video display by Unilumin was installed in July in a brand new football stadium in Krasnodar, Russia. Totaling 4,800 square meters the curved video solution encircles the inner perimeter of the stadium bowl in a one-of-a-kind installation.

The display is composed of Ustorm outdoor panels with 16mm pixel pitch and 8000 nits’ brightness, according to the press release. It is installed between the roof and sitting stands following the contours of the stadium bowl.

According to Unilumin, the main challenge to be addressed was the displays’ shape. To meet the requirements of the project the company designed customized cabinets and modules that would enable the display to cover the entire circumference of the stadium in a wavy shape.

The stadium, which has a capacity of 33 000 seats, is claimed to be one of the world’s most functional facilities dedicated exclusively to football. According to Sergey Galitsky, the chairman, and owner of the FC Krasnodar, the stadium meets all the requirements needed to host matches of UEFA and FIFA.
