Australian shopping mall boasts rotating LED display

Ultra-lightweight rotating video solution by NanoLumens was installed in Charlestown Square Shopping Center in Newcastle, New South Wales. The installation was performed by Digital Place Solutions, a place-based media and LED display consultants, which is the company’s official distributor in the region.

The project is the third commissioned by The GPT Group and follows the installations in Melbourne Central and Highpoint Shopping Center in 2015.

The display is a double-sided, 4mm portrait format video solution measuring 2.44m wide by 4.27m high. It is suspended from the ceiling of the shopping center’s central glass atrium using a custom-made rotator. The rotating solution was specially designed for the project to avoid significant structural work on the existing roof.

Working with Salt Lake City, Utah-based Dynapac Rotating; we succeeded in going far beyond what the weight limit would allow,”- commented Gerry Thorley, the DPS Director. “We created an integrated rotating solution that weighs a total of only 650kg, or 1,433 pounds! It is a solution that is 50 percent lighter than similarly configured conventional solutions, creates a larger display surface area for sponsor messaging, and is three times thinner than a traditional solution.
