The company announced they have designed, engineered and put into manufacturing a large-scale set of LED displays for the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC. The installation, which is a total of 7664 square meters, includes an innovative 360-degree halo display, digital LED column and 12 other LED displays installed throughout the facility.
The 360-degree halo display is integrated into the retractable roof structure of the stadium and stretches along its whole length. With the dimensions of 17.6m high by 327m in circumference the display is large enough for a helicopter to fly through, Daktronics says, and provides 5750 square meters of display space.
"We are proud to provide Mercedes-Benz Stadium with this unique, visionary halo display," - said Daktronics CEO Reece Kurtenbach. "The project is a test of engineering and architecture coordination that showcases our company's depth and capabilities. Increasingly, there is a desire to move beyond standard rectangle shapes, and Daktronics has been at the forefront of the creative use of LEDs. We are equipped to be a valuable partner with our customers for complete solutions, no matter what their aspirations may be for their venue, their display systems and overall experience for their fans."
The digital LED column is a 30.7m high four-sided display that stretches from the first concourse level and up to the roof. It is a four-sided display that covers a building support structure and provides 622 square meters of usable video space to entertain fans.
Both the halo and LED column displays feature 15HD technology, the company said. They can also use variable content zoning for multiple windows to show any combination of video, statistics, graphics and animations, sponsor messages, and other game information.
In addition to this, the company will install 12 other LED displays throughout the facility including fascia and auxiliary displays. There will also be three Ultra-High Definition (UHD) displays with 2.5mm pixel layout installed in two club areas at the stadium. The project also includes field-level perimeter displays to surround the pitch during Atlanta United FC events.
