Thomasville sanctuary upgrade with a fold-up LED screen

The First Baptist Church in Thomasville, Georgia, has opted for PixelFLEX-designed custom LED video rolling hoist system to enhance its contemporary services. The installation was delivered together with S&L Integrated, audio, video, and lighting integrator, and J.R. Clancy, a provider of rigging systems and services to the performing arts industry.

According to PixelFLEX, the unique design of video solution was prompted by the customer’s primary requirement to maintain traditional aesthetics of the sanctuary while ensuring technical update for its contemporary services. This resulted in a roll-up system that uses FLEXCurtain HD 12.5mm LED video product. The system is deployed as a fold-up video backdrop for the church stage. When unused, it is capable of being rolled up and stored in the ceiling.

FLEXCurtain HD is a Parnelli Award-winning product that is advertised as a lightweight and flexible LED video screen capable of high-resolution video playback and video effects for a variety of worship applications. Its hi-res LED video can be driven by any DVI output, and the multi-directional, flexible design makes it easy to store and transport, the company said.

While other LED video products may be hindered by rigid panels that bolt together, the FLEXCurtain HD was the perfect solution for a rolling-hoist system,” - concluded Eric Huss, System Integrator at JR Clancy. “We are constantly asked to develop custom solutions to fulfill customer requests, and it was very exciting to work with both S&L Integrated and PixelFLEX to make the idea at First Baptist Church in Thomasville a design reality.
