Wake Forest partners with Daktronics for LJVM Coliseum display upgrades

Within the partnership Daktronics will provide 35 LED displays to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial (LJVM) Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The installation, which includes nearly 500 square meters will be completed this summer for a new 2017-18 games season, the press release said.

As a department, we are very excited to once again partner with Daktronics to provide an enhanced fan experience at our athletic venues,” - said Steve Adams, Wake Forest Associate Athletic Director, Internal Operations. “The upgrades to the LJVM Coliseum will provide the ‘wow’ factor that has become the standard of excellence for venues around the ACC. We look forward to completing this work in time for the upcoming basketball season.

The new centerpiece will consist of four displays with 6mm line spacing to provide totally around 130 square meters of display space. The two largest, sideline-facing displays will feature a unique concave curvature and measure approximately 4.7m high by 8.5m wide. The two end-facing displays will measure roughly 2.8m high by 5.3m wide.

The configuration will be topped with an LED ring display that will match the curvatures along each sideline while straightening along the end lines to show supplemental stats and information.

According to the press release, the video system will allow for a variable content zoning to show one large image or to be divided into multiple windows to show any variety of live video, instant replay, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

In addition to the centerhung displays, the company will install 22 ribbon displays that will add 320m in length to the LED display inventory at the venue. The seven LED scorer’s tables can be organized in any configuration. These displays can offer supplemental content to the main displays while providing the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events.

The project will also include an upgrade outside the LJVM Coliseum where two marquee displays will be installed to welcome fans and keep everyone informed of current and upcoming events.
