Sansi North America (SNA) Displays is to unveil a giant video spectacular, which is already being called the highest-resolution LED screen in the history of Times Square. Wrapped around the façade of a newly built Marriott EDITION hotel at 701 7th Avenue, the giant screen will debut on Wednesday, August 23.
“We are excited to unveil this groundbreaking digital display,” – said Dennis Hickey, president of SNA Displays. “We’ve been anticipating this moment since we won the project, and we can’t wait for the world to see it.”
Featuring 8mm pixel pitch the impressive video canvas measures 27.84m high and 56.80m in length. With a total area, of nearly 1600 square meters the display is counted among the largest continuous exterior displays in the world, according to the press release.
The screen is described as capable to maintain the next generation of video content, including 8K. This, SNA Displays says, provides for incredibly vibrant imagery and allows the screen to show content driven 1-to-1 eliminating the need to scale it up or down.
The project also includes a hotel blade sign, which will extend approximately 30m high and consist of 1,968,000 pixels. In addition to that, the project will feature 175 linear feet of Sansi-manufactured LED soffit lighting, the press release said.
SNA Displays was awarded the project by Witkoff, a Manhattan-based investment, and development firm that took part in the development of Marriott EDITION hotel building. The property will reportedly house such prominent tenants as Hershey Corporation and NFL Experience.
