Daktronics curved display in Carson stadium

Daktronics new curved display breaks the record in soccer venues

Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, will produce and install a giant curved LED display for a soccer stadium in Carson, California. The installation will be implemented by request of StubHub Center and LA Galaxy soccer team.

According to Daktronics, the installation will feature a massive LED display 11m high by 40m wide with a curvature that is unique in soccer stadiums. The concave shape is aimed to enhance viewers’ experience by minimizing optical distortions for those sitting off-center.

The display belongs to DVX 13HD outdoor series. Due to its technical specifications the 13HD technology is consistently chosen by professional sports facilities around the world, reports Daktronics official source. With the stated brightness of 7000 nits, the DVX 13HD displays retains uncompromising image quality and sharp contrast even in the direct sunlight, the company said.

The screen is reported to be zoned to display either one image or multiple windows featuring different content, e.g. live video, instant replays, scoring information and statistics, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.

The StubHub Center is located on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, California. With the capacity of 27 000 seats, the soccer stadium is a part of multi-purpose sports facility, which also includes tennis court, track-and-field stadium, and velodrome. The StubHub Center is a home field to LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer (MLS).
